Hattie McDaniel

Today's Mini Bio is on Hattie McDaniel!

Hattie McDaniel (June 10th,1895-October 26th,1952) was the first African-American woman to receive and Academy Award! She received her award in 1940 for best supporting role as Mammy in Gone With The Wind. In 1975 she was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall Of Fame, and in 2006 she was the first African-American Oscar winner to be represented on a US Postal Stamp! In 1952 she died of Breast Cancer.
